Nutritional Value
- Excellent source of vitamin C and calcium.
- Good source of dietary fiber and vitamins A and B6, thiamine, folate and minerals (potassium, copper, chromium, manganese, iron).
- May lower cholesterol levels, decrease the risk of heart attacks and strokes and have antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Storage and Uses
- Can be stored in the refrigerator. Cut off the greens, wrap them with paper and place it in a plastic bag and store for 4-5 days.
- Can be used raw in salads or cooked. They add flavor to the soup, noodle dishes.
Note
- Slice the green onion’s white part into pieces. Place it in the cloth bag as well as steam it. You may also combine the green onion along with grated ginger with some salt and wrap the hot bag in the towel and put it within the throat, chest, soles, palms, back, and underarms. It encourages sweating as well as reduces the heat as well as pain.
